a A few days ago, Lionel Messi went viral after posting a photo at Barcelona’s renovated stadium. The Argentine footballer was passing through the city with his teammate Rodrigo de Paul when they decided to stop and take pictures without notifying the club authorities. The photo shocked the world and brought back memories of his time at the club, when the Argentine gave him even more joy.
Memories of Messi are still fresh, with Barcelona fans once again reminiscing about his time in Spain and talking about the milestones he achieved as a Catalan. There are so many memories that a debate recently raged over what Messi’s first goal for Barcelona was, with former Mexico goalkeeper Jorge Campos claiming it, only to be corrected by a fan.

Jorge Campos claims to have scored Messi’s first goal for Barcelona
Jorge Campos is a very active person on social media, especially on X, where he shares old photos and recalls the milestones of his career. Capitalizing on Messi’s influence on Barcelona fans, Campos released a video claiming to have scored the Argentine’s first goal in his time as a Catalan, when in fact this was not the case.
The Mexican player uploaded a video of Messi scoring a goal with the following text: “Did you know…? Rio Messi’s first goal for Barcelona was in a charity match in aid of HIV-AIDS victims. Who was the world’s goalkeeper that day? It was me. Let’s just say I put a little bit of my luck in the hands of young Brody.”
Barcelona fans correct Jorge Campos
The post received many comments, especially one that “ruined” Campos’ memory. “No offense, but my first goal for Barça was scored on July 20, 2004 in a friendly against Palamos (0-6),” a Barcelona fan commented on his X account, correcting the former Mexican goalkeeper.
“The second goal was on January 8, 2004, in another friendly against Kashima Antlers (0-5) in Tokyo. The third goal is yours. It was my first goal at the Camp Nou, on November 30, 2004,” he added to the fans, unfortunately “ruining” the memory of the proud Jorge Campos, who played with Messi when he was still young.
