TSantiago Bernabéu is protected for Sunday’s match. The NFL arrived in Madrid with very strict measures in place, contrary to the measures normally in place at Real Madrid’s home base. The most striking thing is that entering the stadium with a backpack on your back is prohibited, only transparent bags are allowed.
NFL policy requires all bags entering the stadium to be clear, no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches, and made of plastic, vinyl or PVC. These are the rules that all attendees of the Miami Dolphins and Washington Commanders game must follow, and are in stark contrast to what is normally seen at soccer games held at the Bernabéu.
Bernab is isolated for the NFL.
Weapons, knives, drones, fireworks, illegal drugs, and opaque containers, including coolers and briefcases, are prohibited inside the stadium. Alcoholic beverages (but sold inside the store), aerosols, unlicensed musical instruments, and large electronic devices are also prohibited.
The area around the Bernabéu has also been completely shut down for the match. Due to the unprecedented intrusion, a cordon has been erected around the stadium, and only those involved in the event are allowed to enter. These measures require a race against time to comply in time for Sunday.
Madrid’s police force is also preparing a special operation involving more than 400 police officers. Additionally, traffic congestion will occur from 6 a.m. on November 15 to 8 p.m. on November 16.
