Cristiano set a precedent in European and world football. He received his award at the Santiago Bernab on July 6, 2009, and since then, it’s not just his 312 goals in La Liga and 105 in the Champions League that have made headlines.
Four Champions League titles, three Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey titles and two Spanish Super Cup titles confirm that the Portuguese star is more than just a player, and more than justifies the fans in calling him the club’s greatest symbol.
Meanwhile, Mbappu arrived at Xabi Alonso’s team full of enthusiasm in 2024 after his time at Paris Saint-Germain. His adaptation to Real Madrid was almost instantaneous, and in two seasons he scored 62 goals for the team, 44 of which came in the 2024/25 season and 18 in the 2025/26 season.
Of course, 389 goals is a big difference, but the 26-year-old has shown that his scoring rate is just as impressive. In fact, Mbapp has scored more than half of the team’s goals this season, or 18 of the team’s 34 goals.
It may be hard to imagine reaching CR7 figures, but it would take Kylian around eight seasons at the club to match his 40-year-old idol and, of course, keep his scoring average at the same level.
The truth is that the young star has shown ambition, leadership and determination and is ready to give his all to win his first Champions League and Ballon d’Or. And who knows, maybe he will set a new goalscoring record for Real Madrid.
