JTA International Investment Holding, a Qatar-based global investment company chaired by Dr. Amir Ali Salemi, is in talks with Getafe president Angel Torres to acquire the Madrid club.

After months of negotiations, the deal is reportedly close to being finalized and will be a major financial boost for Getafe. The agreement includes the naming rights for the new stadium, which is scheduled to be completed in approximately two years, the main sponsor of the team’s uniforms, and the continuation of Angel Torres as club president, as determined by JTA management.

JTA International CEO Amir Ali Salemi believes Torres is an “incredibly valuable leader” and that his continued presence at the helm is “essential to maintaining the club’s identity and connection with its loyal fan base.”

Dr. Salemi, a lifelong soccer fan and player in his youth, sees the potential acquisition as “a way to contribute to the growth and stability of Spanish football, while strengthening ties between sport, business and community.”

The acquisition of Getafe is part of JTA’s broader strategic expansion plan, which has seen the company grow from a regional investment company to a global investor active in more than 50 countries. JTA works in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, innovation, tourism, transport, health, agriculture and food security.

Recently, JTA International Investment Holding signed a cooperation agreement of 2 billion with Vietnamese company Vingroup, which includes VinFast and VinPearl, to develop East Asia’s largest sports complex, a 4.5 billion flagship project in Vietnam. JTA also invests in notable projects in the real estate, energy, fintech and tourism sectors. “These initiatives further strengthen JTA’s diverse and ambitious global portfolio.”

If the deal with Getafe is finalized, it will be JTA’s first major investment in European football and give the company visibility in one of the world’s most prestigious championships. La Liga, known for its global reach and exceptional competitiveness, was a decisive factor in JTA’s decision to acquire the Spanish club. After a thorough evaluation by experts familiar with Spanish football, Getafe was identified as an ideal candidate site due to its financial stability, sound management and respected sporting project.

Under the leadership of Dr. Amir Ali Salemi, JTA International Investment Holding has become a globally recognized leader in strategic investing. Salemi has received multiple international awards for excellence in business management, including the World Economic Federation Best Business Leadership Award.

Amir Ali Salemi expressed confidence that the ongoing negotiations will be successful, saying: “I hope that Ángel Torres will remain at the helm of the club and that an agreement will be reached soon.”

If the deal goes ahead, it would mark a new chapter in Spanish football and Qatar’s global investment footprint, just weeks after Julen Lopetegui’s historic Qatari national team qualified for the 2026 World Cup.
