Amorim admits United could have ‘won more’ by playing 4-4-2

Dyche, who worked as a pundit before returning to management, claimed that United would have won more games if they had used a 4-4-2 system, and Amorim was happy to accept to the press that the former Burnley manager was probably right in his assessment.
But he said Dyche’s comments may have been influenced by the need to speak up while working in the media.
“First of all, it may be true, but if we play 4-4-2 we can win more games. But what I always say is that the way I play takes time and will get better in the future. “So, we don’t know that.” Then I can look at Sean Dyche as a director and as a critic. If you’re a critic and you don’t have very strong things to say, I don’t want to watch you.
“So I understand that this is a totally different job. And Sean Dyche is really smart and knows how to play the game. And he also understands that when we watch the game and talk about the game, it’s another thing to coach the team. So, I understand that. There’s nothing to say. I just want to win the next game.”
The game against Forest will mark Amorim’s first year in charge, but the Portuguese reflected on how he has endured some difficult times since joining from Sporting CP.

He said: “It’s been a journey. It’s been a big journey. It’s been hard. It’s been really hard. Good moments, bad moments. I’ve learned a lot. That’s really important.”
“I’ve learned that even when I’m down, I can stick to what I believe in. That’s something everyone can understand, and the answer today is different than it was three weeks ago. So it’s important to understand that.”
“So it’s been one of the greatest honors of my life to be here, and I hope to be here for many years to come.”
