Caleb Williams is watching his professional career take off, thanks in large part to the guidance of head coach Ben Johnson, who joined the Chicago Bears this season. Johnson has worked closely with the rookie quarterback, helping him ignore the critics and focus on playing at the level expected of the No. 1 overall pick.

The Bears currently sit at the bottom of the NFC North with a 2-2 record, but the team is showing signs of potential that could point to a promising future. Feeling more confident and mentally balanced after recent performances, Williams is already thinking about his life outside the playing field, and his next move will point him towards a completely different sport: football.

Joe Flacco’s new chapter with the Bengals begins at age 40

On the morning of Tuesday, October 7, it was announced that Williams will be joining the ownership group of the Boston Legacy, a new franchise set to debut in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

His investment will align him with a group of high-profile athletes, including three-time Olympic gymnastics medalist Aly Raisman, Boston Celtics general manager Brad Stevens and Indiana Fever forward Aliyah Boston.

“Women’s sports are athletics, and I admire and respect the work our team and the NWSL continue to do to grow our sport and empower future generations of athletes. The Boston Legacy Football Club is building something special, and we are proud to be a part of what’s next,” Williams said in a statement.

The business was done through 888 Midas, an investment company Williams formed after joining the Bears. According to the description, the company.

We provide a unique platform for athlete- and advisor-led investing across private equity, venture capital, real estate and alternative assets.

The NWSL continues to expand rapidly, with two new franchises scheduled to join the league in 2026, Boston Legacy and Denver Summit FC, making them the 15th and 16th teams, respectively.

Jennifer Epstein, majority owner of Boston Legacy, emphasized the importance of having a high-profile athlete like Williams on board for the project.

“Caleb’s investment in the Boston Legacy Football Club highlights the strong momentum in women’s professional soccer and what it means for professional athletes to invest in our future,” Epstein said in a statement. “It represents a new era of support and recognition across the league.” Boasting best-in-class athletes, a rapidly growing fan base, and undeniable energy, the NWSL is proud to have Caleb as a partner as we prepare for our inaugural season in 2026.

What’s next for the Chicago Bears?

The Bears will take the field again in Week 6 to take on the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football. This will be an important matchup for Chicago, as Jaden Daniels and the Commanders go into the game as the clear favorites.

After the prime-time showdown, Chicago faces tough games against the New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens, and Cincinnati Bengals. These series of games will test both Williams’ development and the team’s resilience as it continues to build for the future.
