Omar Bravo has been in the spotlight in recent days, but not exactly because of his football-related issues. The former player filed a complaint with the Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office and was arrested on suspicion of aggravated child sexual abuse.
Bravo was arrested on October 5 after his defense requested that he not be transferred to Puente Grande, a high-security prison, and is currently being held at El Salto Metropolitan Prison in Jalisco state.

Omar Bravo’s first trial will take place on Friday, October 10th, when the evidence in the case will be analyzed to determine the further process and possible sentencing of the former Chivas footballer.
What penalties could Omar Bravo receive?
Jalisco’s criminal law states that the circumstances may depend on whether sexual intercourse took place.
“A person who commits a sexual act not resulting in sexual intercourse on a minor or a person incapable of understanding or resisting the act shall be sentenced to imprisonment for one to four years,” the official document explains.
On the other hand, it is also explained that “A person who engages in sexual intercourse or similar sexual intercourse with a minor or a person who does not have the ability to understand the meaning of things or resist acts shall be punished by imprisonment for a period of not less than 3 months and not more than 5 years.”
More sexual abuse allegations against Omar Bravo revealed
Omar Bravo’s situation could become even more serious after Salvador Zamora, the head of the Jalisco state government, described more allegations of sexual abuse by former soccer players.
“This complaint was filed several months ago this year, and it is not about a single incident, but about multiple incidents,” Zamora told the media, adding that he also wanted to make clear that a former player’s fame or influence is not the deciding factor in getting out of this serious situation.
Abuse dating back to 2019
The 19-year-old woman who came forward with sexual abuse allegations against Omar Bravo said the abuse had been repeated since 2019, when she was 11 years old.
The complaint also states that the victim lived with the former soccer player and was subjected to severe abuse in addition to sexual abuse. The complaint further states that there is also a video recording that substantiates the allegations.
