What is a FIFA Green Card?
Specifically, this new card is not for umpire use, but for team coaches to “challenge” in NFL style, a decision that is considered unfair on the field.
U20 World Cup coaches can use their green cards several times in situations similar to those worthy of participating in VAR: Canction, Red Card, if the referee does not score a VAR: Penalty, Red Card, or when the referee has the card to the wrong player.
The card is part of the Video Review System (FVS) that was implemented last year at Zurich’s Blue Star Youth Championship and Colombia’s U-20 Women’s World Cup.
