eSpagnoll’s heroic victory at the RCDE Stadium over Atletico Madrid forgot Simeone’s men as the architects of the second half comeback. But they weren’t the only ones who caught their attention in Cornera. NFL legends were seen close to the stadium and shared some beers with fans. It was JJ Watt, a shareholder of Velocity Sports Limited, a group that acquired the club more than a month ago.
The former American posted a message on social media in Spanish after the team’s victory in the league’s opening game, saying, “There’s more beer in the future,” but admitted that he won’t return until February due to work reasons. Watt is currently working as a commentator for CBS Sports after resigning in January 2023.
The Magical Premier League goal by Tottenham strikers may be the best of this year
The Wisconsin native thanked the crowd for their support, saying the club “is in excellent hands with Alan Pace (owner of Velocity Sports Limited).”
Long career in the NFL
Watt is one of the great NFL references of 12 seasons spread between the Texans’ Houston and the Arizona Cardinals. In Texas, he played for 10 years and established himself as the best defender of the year three times (2012, 2014, 2015).
In his country he is considered a true sport legend, but he was unable to reach the final round of the playoffs. His competitive ceiling was in the second round and never reached the Super Bowl or conference finals. Still, he is recognized as one of the best players of the past decade.
