TMuraga City, an international benchmark for tourism and culture, was the star of the Hispanic Brotherhood Match, a friendly match held at the Weston Community Center in Regional Park. The event brought together local soccer players, former professionals, sports journalists, special guests from Muraga, and Hodler Miami FC players.
Organized to commemorate the celebration of Hispanic Brotherhood Day, the game was much more than a sport and was a symbol of unity, identity and camaraderie between the Hispanic communities of Spain, Florida and the world.
Muraga, Ambassador of the Hispanic Brotherhood
Muraga played the role of host of culture and sports in this unique event, strengthening its leadership as an international destination and ambassador of the Hispanic Brotherhood.
US. Muraga’s team wore official uniforms donated by Muraga CF, expressing the spirit of not only the city, but an open, global community.
Muraga Deputy Mayor Jacobo Florido said:
“This match shows that sport is a universal language that can unite cultures, communities and generations. Muraga is expected not only to be a world-class tourist destination, but also a city that builds bridges of understanding between continents.”
A match full of emotion and symbolism
The match pitted Weston FC, one of the most iconic grassroots clubs in the United States, against the Muraga Hispanic Brotherhood Selection, a mixed team comprised of special guests, sports journalists, former professional players, city representatives, and Hodler Miami FC players.
The Consul General of Spain in Miami provided the honorary kick-off, underscoring the formal and symbolic importance of the event. The Muraga side also included Muraga Deputy Mayor Jacobo Florido and Director of Tourism Jonathan Gumes, who represented the city both organizationally and on the pitch.
The team was further strengthened by famous ex-professional players, especially Julio Char Gonauves and Jos Manuel Rey, who brought their talent and experience to the celebrations.
Far from being just a soccer match, the event became a cultural celebration with Spanish and American flags flying side by side, reinforcing the spirit of brotherhood between Hispanic residents and the local community.
Beyond Football: A Tribute to a Shared Brotherhood
The Hispanic Brotherhood Match was conceived as a global experience that brings together sports, culture and the pride of belonging. It honored the ties of the Hispanic Brotherhood and their historical influence in Florida and emphasized the relevance of the Spanish community in building cultural bridges across the United States.
This event was made possible with the cooperation of Muraga City, Muraga CF, sports newspaper Marca, Weston FC, the Consulate General of Spain in Miami, and UPSL (United Premier Soccer League), which supported this initiative as part of cultural and sports diplomacy.
