Mohamed Salah continued to negotiate with Besiktas over a move to the Turkish club, but one of Besiktas’ executives has given a major update on his possible transfer.

Besiktas claim they have withdrawn from contract negotiations with former Liverpool player Mohamed Salah despite meeting with him several times.
The Egyptian was allowed to leave Anfield a year before the end of his contract and is a free agent, and the 34-year-old forward is currently looking for a new club, with the Turkish side believing they are leading the race.
Salah has been the subject of an approach from Besiktas, with the club’s president Serdar Adali telling Turkish media he was awaiting a final decision, but manager Onder Ozen has claimed that communication has stalled and they are facing obstacles.
He believes Salah’s agent is in talks with another club, but insists a final offer is still on the table if he wants a move to happen.
Ozen told Turkish media: “We contacted Salah and this also had to do with the financing model. Salah is a world star and a respected athlete. We met with Salah three times before discussing the financial aspects of the negotiations.”
“Up until this point, everything was fine. Once the financial side started, the initial smoothness slowed down after July 21st. Requests began to arrive that disrupted the flow of information and caused an impasse in the financial process. We can assume that a respected athlete like Salah was unaware of this.”
“The club has a policy and we cannot deviate from it. Our president has made his position very clear and he has remained there. I have no opportunity to say yes or no, but Besiktas’ offer was made under its own terms and is clear. If there is a response to this offer, it will be evaluated.”

“But Besiktas will not make a new offer. They said that they are also negotiating with other clubs, and perhaps a result will come from there. The last offer we made for Salah is the last point that does not damage Besiktas’ club identity.”
Besiktas are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next season and have just signed Leandro Trossard from Arsenal. Although competitive, Galatasaray currently have the upper hand and have not won the Turkish title since 2021.
Salah is not without options, with a move to Saudi Arabia previously linked and Liverpool having turned down big offers in the past, but a move to MLS remains a possibility if the former Red wants to see his playing days in the United States.
