Paris Saint-Germain confirmed at the weekend that they had ended their pursuit of RB Leipzig star Yann Diomande, issuing a new statement targeting Real Madrid.

Paris Saint-Germain have launched an attack on Real Madrid with new comments regarding their former transfer target Yann Diomand. PSG announced on Sunday that they were no longer interested in the 19-year-old, with RB Leipzig demanding at least £100m, after turning down an £85m bid from Real last week.
However, the French and European champion did not stop there. On Monday, PSG claimed, via French newspaper L’Equipe, that the “exorbitant amount of money” that Real could end up paying for the Ivorian international “shows their current situation.”
The club said: “They have potential, but a year ago they were asking for an exorbitant amount of money for a player who was playing in Spain’s second division. Just because a club comes to us with fireworks, we’re not going to pay a lot of money.”
“This shows the current situation at Real Madrid,” PSG added, pointing the knife at him.

Diomande joined Leipzig from Spanish second-division side Leganes last summer and had an excellent season in Germany. The winger scored 12 goals and provided eight assists, earning him the Bundesliga Young Player of the Year award for the 2025-26 season.
The drama between the clubs came after PSG said they would “not break their principles” by bowing to Leipzig’s demands. The Ligue 1 side said: “The requested transfer fee and salary were completely disproportionate and distortive. PSG has no intention of violating the principles of rational financial management and team balance.”
“As Champions League winners for the second consecutive year and the most successful club in recent years, PSG will not engage in inflationary or manipulative games played by certain player agents, but instead will continue with its transfer plans calmly and confidently.”

Diomande was also a target for Liverpool, but Real appear to be the clear favorites. His arrival could have a knock-on effect on Vinicius Junior’s future.
Arsenal are interested in Vinicius, who is in the final year of his £400,000-a-week contract with Real, and will be paid a hefty loyalty bonus if he stays until the 2026-27 season. The Brazilian did not return to training as planned on Monday amid growing uncertainty over his future.
If Real decide to sell him, Arsenal are prepared to hand him a lucrative contract with an increased salary. However, new Real manager Jose Mourinho does not want to lose Vinicius just weeks into his second stint in the Bernabéu dugout.
