Manchester United are looking to sign more players, with several deals likely to be completed this week as we move into August. This will be a pivotal summer for United as they look to build on the momentum created under manager Michael Carrick in the second half of last season. With Champions League football returning to Old Trafford in 2026-27, Carrick will need a stronger and more robust squad than the one that ended last season.

United will also have to release players on permanent or loan deals. They have already strengthened the core of their squad with the signings of Andrej Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa, but at least one more midfielder is expected to arrive. Clubs are also racing to break even by the end of July to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations. Express Sport looks at five deals United could accomplish this week…

United are thought to have agreed personal terms with the Roma midfielder, who is valued at around £50m. Corriere dello Sport reported at the weekend that United have yet to make a formal offer and are “moving slowly” with the signing.

This is said to be causing frustration for Roma, who hope the transfer can be completed this month to avoid a hefty fine from UEFA.

They have a settlement agreement with the governing body which stipulates their losses cannot exceed £51.25 million, but they have until July 31 to prove they are staying within financial bounds. As a result, they will work hard to reach an agreement within the next few days.

The Czech goalkeeper impressed on loan at Bristol City last season and will be back in action this summer.

The arrival of Karl Darlow as Senne Lamence’s main replacement appears to have closed United’s path to becoming first choice, with Vitek likely to leave on a permanent transfer.

A return to the Championship is likely, with clubs including Middlesbrough reportedly interested in the 22-year-old. With the Championship campaign starting in less than three weeks, they may want to finalize a deal early.

The Dutch forward appears to have little future at Old Trafford. It is clear that Carrick is holding back on the 25-year-old, but United are likely to abandon their hopes of recouping the £36.5m they paid for Bologna in 2024.

A return to Italy seems likely, with Juventus reportedly on the list.

Bindil, another player with no future at the club, was granted a sabbatical after the World Cup to facilitate his departure. The Turkish goalkeeper, who did not play in the World Cup, is rumored to be on the verge of returning to his homeland with Besiktas.

Bindir has not featured for United since a costly mistake in the 3-1 defeat at Brentford in September. During his 17 starts, the team lost seven games, scoring 31 goals in the process.

Few would expect Rashford’s seemingly endless saga to come to an end this week, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. The striker is at a crossroads after Barcelona opted not to turn his loan move into a permanent deal.

United want to take him off their payroll but remain reluctant to sell him to a direct competitor.

As it stands, Rashford is set to rejoin United’s squad in August, unless another club takes a chance on the unpredictable forward by then.
