Palmeiras are reportedly determined to keep hold of teenage prospect Eduardo Conceição. Manchester United have reportedly entered into negotiations with the Brazilian team regarding the youngster. The 16-year-old is yet to feature in Palmeiras’ first team, but has already attracted the attention of several major European clubs. It looks like United have qualified.
However, it would run into opposition from Brazil. Globo Esporte reported that negotiations were held with United, along with Manchester City and Barcelona. The fee mentioned is believed to be around €25m (£21.4m), plus an additional $15m (£12.9m) in performance-related bonuses.
Despite this, negotiations were said to have “cooled down” during the World Cup, and Palmeiras appear to have changed their position. It is understood the club are now determined to retain the player and promote him to the first team.
If they go ahead with that approach, they believe they could command a fee of €50m (about £42.8m) in the subsequent transfer window. Conceição has already been coached by the club’s managers and established players.
United have made a concerted effort to bring in promising talent in recent slots. Aiden Haven joined from Arsenal in 2025.
United have focused on the long-term development of young players this summer, with the signings of Tynan Thompson and goalkeeper Kit Margetson. United are reportedly keen to strengthen their attacking options in the summer transfer window. Rasmus Hojlund’s departure has been confirmed, with Joshua Zirkzee expected to follow suit before the end of his retirement window.
The club have overhauled their midfield options, spending a total of £85m to sign Andrej Santos from Chelsea and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa.
United are also pursuing the possibility of a third midfield signing, with a number of names linked to the club including Aurelien Chomeny, Alex Scott and Carlos Baleva. The club further strengthened their goalkeeping position by acquiring back-up stopper Karl Darlow on a free transfer.
