Premier League rivals rarely discuss transfer business with each other, but Chelsea and Arsenal are said to be targeting one of Tottenham’s biggest stars.
Tottenham Hotspur captain Cristian Romero is on the transfer radars of Arsenal and Chelsea. Italian media made this claim after Romero was reportedly offered to Inter Milan.
The 28-year-old is expected to leave this summer after becoming a front-runner for Spurs fans at the end of the season. His decision to return to Argentina for treatment with a knee injury did not go down well with North London fans, especially when it was claimed he would miss the Premier League game against Everton in the title-or-relegation decider.
Considering the situation, Romero flew back to see his team-mates saved against the Toffees, but his future became uncertain after Spurs brought in Jan-Paul van Hecke and Marco Senesi.
Inter have emerged as early candidates for his signature, but Italian media understand they may have to battle Chelsea and Arsenal to sign him.

Corriere dello Sport claim that Mikel Arteta and Xabi Alonso are among the teams competing to sign the former Atalanta defender. The Gunners are actively seeking reinforcements at centre-back, with William Saliba expected to miss a significant portion of the season after undergoing back surgery.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are poised to finalize a move for Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix, but are also thought to be eyeing an additional centre-half. Free agent John Stones, who left Manchester City at the end of last season, has been linked with both clubs as well.
It would be an interesting development if either Arsenal or Chelsea were able to sign Romero. Mundo Deportivo suggested Spurs are seeking around £25.9m, having previously valued him at around £60.3m.
Atletico Madrid and Barcelona have also been reported to be interested in Romero this summer. Spurs rejected his approach last season when they inquired about his availability.
Despite his change of heart, Romero’s future at the club still appears destined to end this summer in some way. Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausillo has also confirmed that he is keen to sign with Inter.
he told Sky Sports Italia. “There is no doubt that we are trying to sign a player and a club (Tottenham). These things take time, but there is definitely interest. We will see.”
