Manchester United are eyeing a further midfield signing for Michael Carrick. Following their thumping 5-0 pre-season win over Norway’s Rosenborg, the Red Devils are once again focusing on summer reinforcements. United next face Spanish giants Atletico Madrid on Saturday.
Andrej Santos, Youri Tielemans and Karl Darlow have already been called up to strengthen Carrick’s squad for all four competitions next season. United have returned to the Champions League and are looking to improve further in the Premier League and domestic cup competitions. Still, more reinforcements are needed, especially in midfield, where United appear to be pushing hard to sign players. Express Sport brings you all the latest news from Old Trafford.
Manu Corn has reportedly agreed a move to Old Trafford on personal terms. Corriere dello Sport report that the Roma midfielder is determined to join United, although a transfer fee has not yet been determined.
United are reportedly in talks with Roma and are expected to make an offer of around £42.7m. Real Madrid have withdrawn from the race for the 25-year-old after their offer of £34.1m for the player was rejected.
Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahly and Chelsea are also interested, and Kone’s valuation could rise to £51.2 million in a bidding war. The 6ft 1in star, who started his career at Toulouse before going on to play for Borussia Mönchengladbach, has won 19 caps for France.
Carlos Baleva remains determined to secure a move to Manchester United after his chances of leaving were dashed last summer with a £100m valuation. Bareva’s agent has reportedly made new contacts with United to explore a potential move to Old Trafford.
Fabrizio Romano said the 22-year-old’s camp had contacted United and the player was keen to work under Carrick.
The Brighton midfielder considered United as his preferred option last year and pushed for a move away. However, future contracts were halted due to the Seagulls’ £100m demand.
However, Valeva’s price tag has now been reduced to around £70m and he could become a realistic target for United following this significant writedown. The Cameroonian central or defensive midfielder has made 92 appearances for Brighton, scoring three goals.
