The Barcelona midfielder publicly denounced Ayala and submitted new evidence to FIFA’s investigation into the incident. He told Diary de Terrassa: “A person who has confessed that he is sorry and then justifies the punch by claiming that it was a reaction to something I said probably doesn’t regret it…I didn’t say anything to him, so I don’t need to apologize to him.”

Coach Olmo will not be amused by Infantino’s thoughts on Argentina’s actions during the tournament. A letter from the FIFA chief to Argentine FA president Cardio Tapia was recently leaked.
