Manchester United will be hoping that Rodri will be of great benefit as they continue to build their team this season. The Red Devils have already signed two central midfielders this summer, but are thought to be still in the market for a third addition. Manager Michael Carrick is reported to be keen to sign a holding midfielder to replace Casemiro, who left Old Trafford at the end of last season.

Several candidates have been linked with a move to United in recent weeks, including Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. According to the Guardian, he is one of the top players on Carrick’s shortlist and could be available for around £51m this summer.

Real Madrid are said to be open to letting Camavinga leave for the right price, suggesting a move to Old Trafford could emerge as a realistic possibility.

The report added that Real Madrid’s interest in Rodri could be a deciding factor. Manchester City are said to be exploring a major move for the Manchester City midfielder, who recently helped Spain win their second World Cup.

According to RMC Sport, personal terms have already been agreed, but the transfer fee has not yet been negotiated. Rodri’s contract with City runs until the end of next season, and City are under pressure to cash in on his contract.

The one-time Ballon d’Or winner has made no secret of his desire to return to Spain one day and is thought to be keen to join Real Madrid this summer.

It is reported that if they are successful in signing Rodri, Camavinga will be free to leave the club. United will therefore be secretly hoping that an agreement can be reached between the Spanish giants and their cross-city rivals.

Camavinga is believed to be in favor of remaining at Real Madrid, but signing Rodri would mean he would be pushed down the pecking order.

So it remains to be seen whether his stance will change if United come calling him in the not-too-distant future.

This would keep the player under contract until the summer of 2031, with his asking price rising should United decide to solidify their long-standing interest.

Camavinga appears to be the most likely option for the Red Devils, but with just over five weeks until the window slams shut, there’s still plenty of time for things to change.
