Arsenal are considering a blockbuster signing for Vinicius Junior, with the possibility reportedly being “approved at all levels” within the club. The newly crowned Premier League champions are expected to have a busy summer as they prepare for a new title challenge. They have already signed Piero Hincapie on a permanent basis, and have also completed the transfers of Christos Tzoris and Illan Meslier.
It has been previously reported that Arsenal want to sign a new left-winger to replace Gabriel Martinelli as the club’s starting option. Real Madrid are said to be considering a surprise move for Vinicius, who has just entered the final 12 months of his contract. The Brazilian, widely considered one of the best players in the world, is yet to agree new terms at the Bernabéu.
According to The Athletic, talks between the clubs have not yet taken place, but Arsenal’s leaders have already given unanimous approval to the move.
Vinicius is said to be at the top of the club’s list of candidates to strengthen their attack, but interest is at an early stage and there is no guarantee a deal will materialize.
No progress has been made in contract negotiations with Real Madrid, meaning he will become a free agent in the summer of 2027.
As a result, the Spanish giants face the dilemma of whether to sign him for money within a year or risk losing him for free.
Vinicius impressed during the World Cup, scoring four goals in five games before Brazil were eliminated in the last 16 by Norway.
Last season, he scored 22 goals in all competitions for Real Madrid, even though the club failed to win a trophy for the second year in a row.
Asked about his future earlier this year, Vinicius hinted that he hoped to remain with Los Blancos for the rest of his career.
“I’m in no hurry to renew my contract. My contract with the club runs until 2027, so between now and 2027 there are still many things that Madrid and I will discuss,” he said.
“Madrid is calm, I am calm too. The president trusts me and I trust him. That’s everything. We just have to wait, live each day, each moment and enjoy being the best club in the world.”
“I never imagined leaving Real Madrid. I’m enjoying every moment I spend here, because this is my dream club. I always dreamed of playing here and staying for a long time.”
“Now I’m one of the captains of the team. Even at such a young age, that’s a very special thing that doesn’t happen very often in the history of football.”
“So I’m enjoying every moment. I want to stay here for the rest of my life, but I’m not in a hurry to renew my contract yet.”
