However, after the bus came under a hail of gunfire in a disgusting attack, the atmosphere among the supporters changed from joy to fear. Local newspaper La Derecha Diario reported that one fan was shot in the arm and taken to hospital after being shot 10 times. After receiving treatment, the supporter reportedly received a visit from Tigres president Martin Suarez.

Footage of the shocking incident shows blood splattered on the floor of the bus and bullet holes next to the broken window.

Approximately 2,000 supporters reportedly attended the Gran Parque Central Stadium, Nacional’s home base in Montevideo, Uruguay, to watch the Tigres match.

After the attack, Tigres released a statement condemning the “very serious act of violence” against fans.

“Tigre expresses its strongest rejection of the extremely serious acts of violence suffered by its members and fans, both male and female, on their way back from the city of Montevideo in connection with the match against Club Nacional de Uruguay,” the statement read.

“Following these unfortunate events, our institution has taken corresponding emergency measures to ensure the safety of our members.

“Early this morning, the group, traveling by bus, arrived in Buenos Aires. The club also reported that members injured and affected by the incident, who required medical assistance at the scene, were taken to a local hospital.”

“After receiving appropriate treatment, he stayed at the hotel where the club’s delegation was staying, was always accompanied by the organization’s leadership and was in constant contact with the medical team who monitored his progress.

“This morning, the facility arranged for his return transfer to Buenos Aires after confirming positive changes in his health condition.

“As an institution, we deny these events and absolutely condemn any manifestation of violence. Football should be a celebration and under no circumstances should we accept that the physical integrity of our people is at risk.”
