Morgan Rodgers has been officially announced as a Chelsea player following his £117m move from Aston Villa and has already issued a statement after completing his move to Stamford Bridge.

Morgan Rodgers hailed Chelsea as “London’s biggest club” after Arsenal missed out on the England star. The Aston Villa midfielder was initially linked with a move to the Emirates after his form in the Midlands.
However, Chelsea took advantage of the move and sealed his services for £117m. Mr. Rogers was officially announced Tuesday night after undergoing a medical examination with his new employer.
Speaking after the transfer was confirmed, he praised Chelsea as the capital’s biggest club. The England star said: “I’m really excited. Chelsea is the biggest club in London for me and it’s the club I’ve always admired since I was a kid.”
“I’m really excited about the project with the new manager, the players we’ve brought in and where the club is going. That’s why I’m here and I can’t wait to get started.”
Rodgers, 23, joins Chelsea after an outstanding season with Aston Villa, in which he scored 14 goals and helped the team win the Europa League.
Explaining why he chose to join the Blues, Rodgers acknowledged the huge influence new manager Xabi Alonso had on him, saying:
“That’s very much in line with the way I look at the game, the way I want to play, and the way I want to be me and express myself freely. Him being a part of that was a huge factor in me being here.”

Rodgers will also face his childhood friend Cole Palmer, who he grew up with at Manchester City, at Stamford Bridge.
“I’ve known Cole since he was about 14 years old, first when we were together in the England (youth) team and then at Man City. We’ve been talking about this for a while and we’ve always wanted to play together, so we’re both thrilled that it’s happened.”
“He’s constantly ringing my phone and texting me, so I can’t wait. I think that’s probably the most special thing, being able to hang out with one of my best friends and be around him every day. That’s what I’m really excited about.”
