Manchester United are already busy in the transfer market ahead of Michael Carrick’s early summer in charge, with the Red Devils boss making it clear what he wants next.

Michael Carrick remains determined to sign another midfielder for Manchester United this summer. The Red Devils have already increased their options in the center of the pitch in recent weeks.
Youri Tielemans and Andrej Santos joined from Aston Villa and Chelsea respectively for a total of £85 million. But Carrick doesn’t seem completely satisfied yet.
According to the Guardian, the United manager is willing to sign a third midfielder to further increase his options following Casemiro’s departure. It remains to be seen who that man will be, but it’s unlikely to be Atlanta’s Ederson.
The Red Devils had agreed to a contract with the Brazilian player, but have decided to cancel the transfer. United are keen to increase their defensive options outside of midfield, prioritizing left-backs.
Tyrell Malasia left the club at the end of last season when his contract expired and United needed further back-up. Several options have already been identified in the Premier League ahead of a potential transfer.
Newcastle’s Lewis Hall and Fulham star Anthony Robinson are among them. Hall has impressed at St James’ Park since joining from Chelsea.
However, Newcastle, who lost Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon this summer, are unlikely to be keen on releasing a new key player. His contract remains until 2029.
Robinson, meanwhile, has shined for Fulham in recent campaigns, but at 29 he is slightly older than United’s preferred profile.

After United’s opening pre-season defeat to Wrexham, Carrick was full of praise for one of his summer signings. He said, “There were a lot of little positives from this game. I thought Andrei and Mason (Mount) did some really good things and connected really well. I saw some positives there.”
“At the top end of the pitch, even though it’s been a week, those sharp little movements and bright moments that you’re looking for will come as you go through a few weeks of training and that’s what it is. There were good signs from Andrei in the first game. He’s finding his rhythm and feeling again, so it was good to see him in the red shirt.”
Carrick added: “As I said before the game, the players have only been back together for about 10 days. Just trying to get through today, look for some positives, look for some good things and know it’s not perfect.”
“That’s natural for the first game. I think the most important thing is that we all came through this game in good shape. There were no injuries, so we can take the next step next week.”
