England captain Harry Kane has released a heartfelt statement on social media after the Three Lions lost 2-1 to Argentina in the World Cup semi-final.

Harry Kane has hinted that this summer’s World Cup will not be England’s last major tournament. The Three Lions captain said he was determined to bounce back from the 2-1 loss to Argentina in the semi-finals and fight again.
Kane, 32, earned his 121st cap for Atlanta, more than any other outfield player in team history, but it doesn’t look like he’s done yet. The striker is four games away from equaling Peter Shilton’s record.
One of them could play in the “bronze medal final” against France. Before the game, Kane posted on social media:
“There aren’t enough words to overcome this empty feeling in my stomach right now. We were really close to one step, another final, but it just wasn’t enough.
“We have given our all for the last seven weeks and it is unbearable to disappoint. We know expectations are high and rightly so, but we have been knocking on the door for eight years and once again we are missing the final piece of the jigsaw.
“That’s where we have to bounce back, process and find a way to get better. I’m very proud of our players and what we’ve shown throughout this tournament, some tough games and tough environments we’ve come through.”
“I think some memories will stay with us players and fans for a long time! Aiming for glory doesn’t always mean you’ll get it.
“We have to fight for it. When we get knocked down, we have to get back up and keep going. That’s what we’re going to do. There’s no other way but to believe and keep pushing. Thank you to all the fans who came out to the stadium and showed their support.”
“Thank you to all our hometown fans for believing in us. To our players and staff, thank you for everything you have given us. As always, win or lose, we will learn and move forward again!”
The heartfelt post also received feedback from members of the England national team. Both Anthony Gordon and Morgan Rogers responded with red heart emojis.
England resume play against France in Miami on Saturday at 10pm (BST). Attention then begins to shift to the 2028 European Championships, which will be held in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
