Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Club Brugge winger Christos Tzoris, with Club Brugge’s head coach confirming the former Norwich player will return to England.
Club Brugge manager Ivan Leko has confirmed that Christos Tzoris is set to join Arsenal permanently.
The Greek attacker, who was named Belgian Jupiler Pro League Player of the Year last season after a goal-packed season, was left out of Brugge’s squad for Friday’s pre-season friendly against Dutch side Heerenveen.
Leko revealed that Tzoris has finalized a return to the Premier League and will join the champions following a spell at Norwich City.
He explained: “This is a great example, someone who came to the training base for the first time and whose last training session was like a game for him, who has given a lot to his career.
“Then he will sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe, which is a big deal for him, for Club Brugge and for Belgian football.
“A good lesson for all young boys is that in football you have to work, stop and talk, work and try to do everything to improve yourself every day.
“While we are very happy for him, it is very sad to lose a top player.
“I am confident that he will get the minutes to play at the highest level in the Premier League and Champions League and prove that he is a top player and absolutely deserves to be there.”
Tzoris, who had 22 goals and 29 assists last season, will replace Leandro Trossard, who moved to Turkish club Besiktas.
He will join the Gunners on a deal worth a basic fee of £34m, subject to a successful medical.
Arsenal are also prepared to step up their interest in Morgan Rodgers, with plans to formally approach Aston Villa with a view to discussing a move.
The Premier League champions are also interested in versatile England international Ezri Konsa and Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix due to William Saliba’s back injury.
Konsa has two years left on his contract at Villa Park and could be open to a move to the Emirates, but there is thought to be a wide gap in valuations between what Unai Emery’s Europa League winners would demand and what Arsenal would pay.
