Arsenal captain has become the subject of fresh speculation after Turkish media claim he has reached an agreement with Galatasaray
It looks increasingly likely that Martin Odegaard will remain at Arsenal following recent reports suggesting he has agreed terms with Galatasaray. According to reports in Türkiye, the Arsenal captain’s agent, Bjorn Kvarme, was spotted in Istanbul earlier this month.
However, it was revealed that Kvarme had actually accompanied Norway to the United States during the World Cup to show support.
Arsenal are also considering a move for Bruno Guimarães, adding further uncertainty to the captain’s long-term future in north London. The club is currently working on a first formal offer to Newcastle, with the player and management hoping to have clarity before pre-season begins in August.

Meanwhile, Odegaard will take some time off after playing for Norway at the World Cup, where he was sent off in the quarter-finals against England, and is expected to return in pre-season next month. Our colleagues at Football London’s Mirror report that sources close to the midfielder insist he is happy at Arsenal and keen to stay, with talks about a new contract likely to take place in the near future.
From an Arsenal perspective, they were delighted with his influence on and off the pitch throughout their title-winning Premier League season, which was in sharp contrast to last year’s injury-hit season.
He battled two shoulder problems before knee problems forced him out for an extended period of time. Although he faces competition from Eberechi Eze this season, he continues to be as influential as possible.
Mikel Arteta has also consistently denied speculation about a change in Gunners captaincy. The Arsenal manager has repeatedly expressed his support for Odegaard, previously saying: “Our captain is incredible, I love him.”
“He is a very good player and will continue to be our captain and continue to be a great player.”
Odegaard continues to have the full support of the dressing room, with his team-mates unanimously voting for him to remain captain. He was also Norway’s captain, taking up the role a year before being handed the armband at Arsenal.
