England has a new supporter in the White House, with President Donald Trump’s adviser Andrew Giuliani hoping for a Three Lions victory next weekend. Thomas Tuchel’s side must first beat Argentina to qualify for the final, but the executive director of the White House Task Force on the 2026 FIFA World Cup wants to see them go all the way.
While the United States has long since departed from the Games, White House officials are seduced by the narrative that Britain will arrive in the United States to triumph on the 250th anniversary of American independence. The 40-year-old dreams of England’s potential, even though they have not tasted success on the world stage since 1966.
For Thomas Tuchel’s side, there is still Argentina, then Spain or France before World Cup glory. Giuliani believes Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham can lead the team to success.
“If America can’t win on its 250th birthday, the great story would be for the British to come to America and win on their anniversary celebrations,” Giuliani told the Daily Mail.
“I think it’s been a 60-year scar for England, so if they win the tournament it will be a beautiful victory. I absolutely believe England can go all the way. They are one of the top teams left.”
“Harry Kane is the number one scorer for the England team and he will be the main factor if the England team wins,” he continued. “He’s one of the key players on the team and he and Jude Bellingham are great athletes.
“England are a very balanced team and they need to have confidence. What the manager has to hammer into them is that they have the potential to win.”
England captain Kane is a particular favorite of US President Donald Trump and is expected to attend Sunday’s trophy presentation ceremony. President Trump previously described the former Tottenham striker as a “great player” and “a great guy” on social media.

The England captain was invited to play golf with President Trump in 2024 while in Palm Beach, Florida. “Honestly, I had no problem playing, but he invited me to play 18 months ago when I was in Palm Beach,” Kane said.
“So when the president invited you somewhere, just to meet him and obviously play golf with him, it was a pretty surreal experience.”
Kane continued, “Honestly, he plays pretty good golf. I hope I can play golf as well as he does when I get to his age, that’s for sure. It’s a unique experience, but I’m just grateful that he invited me to play.”
