The summer transfer window was a frustrating one for Manchester United, but they have completed the signing of Andrej Santos.
Manchester United have signed Chelsea midfielder Andrej Santos in a £50 million deal. It is a huge boost for Michael Carrick’s side, although attempts to sign transfer target Ederson appear to have fallen through.
United last week agreed a deal to sign Santos from Chelsea as they step up plans to strengthen their midfield options in the summer transfer window, with a move for Youri Tielemans also on the horizon.
Santos has signed a long-term contract to become a United player and his move was officially completed after undergoing a medical in Manchester last week.
The 22-year-old is not included in Brazil’s squad for this summer’s World Cup and is expected to join Carrick’s squad at the start of pre-season training.

Santos played 43 games in all competitions for Chelsea last season and is determined to play a key role in United’s return to another successful season.
“Everything about Manchester United is special and it’s an incredible feeling to be joining a club that some of my biggest idols have represented,” Santos told United’s club website.
“As a midfielder, I’m really excited to have the opportunity to learn from Michael Carrick. He’s the perfect coach to help me take the next step in my career and move towards realizing my dreams.
“Everyone has told me how ambitious this club is and the great environment that has been created here. I know how strong this team is and I can’t wait to fight together for the biggest trophies.”
United were keen to strengthen their midfield options this summer following the departure of Casemiro, who left the club at the end of last month when his contract at Old Trafford expired.
Manuel Ugarte suffered a serious knee injury while representing Uruguay during the World Cup, meaning United will have at least two midfielders at their disposal compared to last season.
Speculation also continues as to whether United could sign Ederson over the line from Atalanta.

The Red Devils have already agreed a £38.8 million package to sign the Brazil international earlier this summer.
But last week, reports emerged that a deal to bring Ederson to United had fallen through.
Santos’ contract announcement came on the same day as news broke that Aston Villa star Tielemans was a target for United.
The Red Devils are reportedly trying to sign Tielemans, who has a £35m release clause in his contract with Villa Park.
Rumors of a possible deal for Tielemans come amid speculation that a swoop for Ederson from Atalanta is no longer on the table, with United determined to strengthen their midfield options before the start of the new Premier League season.
