England came from behind to beat Norway and advanced to the World Cup semi-finals thanks to Jude Bellingham’s performance. After a lackluster first half, Miami burst into life in the 36th minute when Andreas Schjelderup’s intended cross accidentally hit the inside of the post. However, Bellingham brought the Three Lions level with Anthony Gordon’s pass and a shot into the bottom corner.
Harry Kane looked set to put England ahead before being denied an offside flag, but at the Hard Rock Stadium Torbjorn Hegem’s goal was also canceled out for a foul on Erling Haaland. Neither team could find a winner in normal time, so it was extended for another 30 minutes in the Florida humidity. But Bellingham scored his sixth goal of the World Cup, booking a semi-final showdown with either Argentina or Switzerland next week. This is England’s fourth World Cup semi-final, following in 1966, 1990 and 2018.
Express Sport rates England’s players for yet another big win and plans…
England vs Norway player ratings
After a mistake by John Stones, he got up quickly to deny Erling Haaland a goal-scoring chance and then made a good save from Haaland’s header moments later. He made a mistake trying to score and could have conceded a handball. It looked like he pulled the arm off because he thought it was getting too big. Also saved from Martin Odegaard, Haaland, XXX
When Schjerderup’s cross-cum-shot went over, he gave them too much space. In the same second-half attack, he headed clear and showed great defending to deny substitute Antonio Nusa. It would have been even better if they could have prevented Berge from going under the crossbar from the next corner kick to make it 2-1. Left late when he seemed exhausted.
Very fortunately, when Thunder Burge caught the ball inside his own box, Pickford bailed him out. However, they defended well in the two-on-one match between Haaland and Soros.
The defense was mostly solid, with a lot of aggressive passing from the back, allowing England to progress into the final third.
When England had the ball, he played a reversal role, drifting wide inside and making important contributions defensively. He brilliantly blocked a shot from Alexander Soros when Norway were leading 1-0, and again denied Nusa in the box in the second half. He was sent off before extra time.

Jude Bellingham scored 6 goals in this World Cup (Image: Getty)
He saw the ball a lot and rarely missed a pass. Good forward move in the build-up to the equalizer before passing to Gordon. Heggem’s goal was forced over by Haaland before being canceled out. He was excellent with the ball in overtime and was essential to the victory.
Although they handled the ball well, they seemed to lack sharpness and struggled to win set pieces. Naturally, he was sent off at halftime, and there are concerns about his fitness ahead of the semi-finals.
He was ineffective and paid the price as he got carried away by Arsenal teammate Bukayo Saka at half-time. England need Saka to perform as he is not 100%.
The hero is back with an incredible equalizer and a smart victory. He made three perfect touches, side-footing a low shot past Orjan Nyland to make it 1-1. A great pass to Kane headed for an offside goal. In the second half, it looked like their influence was waning, but they took the gamble and took the lead on the rebound of a shot saved by Rodgers to make it 2-1. In the World Cup, he scored six goals in one appearance as a midfielder. oh.
Bellingham continued to contribute in key moments, picking up his fourth assist of the World Cup with a great ball past the defense. In the second half, the captain was unable to control a cross that posed a threat to Kane. I took it off immediately after that.
Before the opening game in Norway, he complained that he had been fouled, but the referee was right, it was not a foul. Despite a great finish before half-time, the goal was ruled out for offside, but it definitely was. A dangerous header worried Nyland in extra time, but he worked hard defensively.
England national team players
Bukayo Saka (Rice 46′) – 7
It took a while for him to get into his groove after replacing Madueke. He did a great job finding space and putting the ball in on the other side of the six-yard box, but none of his team-mates could get it in first. He twice prevented England’s third goal in extra time.
Eberechi Eze (Madueke 46′) – 5
A free kick was deflected in his first appearance. I fell asleep when Berger got out of him early in the second half.
Reece James (Gordon 70′) – 5
He came on in midfield to restore Bellingham to the number 10 role. However, following Konsa’s sending off, he moved to right-back.
Jed Spence (O’Reilly 86′) – 7
Played as left-back in the match against Oscar Bob. After sprinting 60 yards forward towards the press, he almost scored the winner with a lucky deflection in stoppage time. It looked like he had won a penalty kick with a great run, but the decision was overturned after a VAR check. After stopping Nyland’s goal to make it 3-1, he showed some important defense to stop Norway’s attack in the closing stages before the final whistle.
Morgan Rogers (concert 88′) – 6
He was introduced late and was asked to play deeper in midfield than usual. Bellingham made it 2-1 with a shot from long range that allowed for a mistake by Nyland.
Dan Byrne (Bellingham 111) – N/A
He was brought on to deflect a Norwegian ball back into the box in the closing stages.
