Erling Haaland was surrounded by microphones and cameras at a press conference in Norway ahead of the World Cup quarter-final match against England.
The 25-year-old will face two of his current Manchester City team-mates Nico O’Reilly and Mark Guehi, while former player John Stones and new signing Elliott Anderson are also part of the Three Lions squad.
Asked about the dynamic, Haaland admitted he had not spoken to any of them. Through Nettavisen, he added: “It’s a little strange to be honest. You’re with them every day, you train with them, you travel everywhere you can. It’s just like when I play against Martin and Arsenal. It’s a little strange and a little special.”
Haaland also gave a clear verdict on the match itself, making it clear that Norway were the underdogs. He said: “Yes, definitely (Norway are the underdogs).
“I think everyone should be humble, but they have the right to be confident moving forward.” He added: “The chances[of winning the World Cup]are still really slim. There are obviously some favorites to win it, and England are one of them. Everybody should put all the pressure on the England players.” This is definitely a special game. For me, this is very special because I played for England and was born in England. It’s going to be an interesting game against my teammates, but it’s going to be a good game.”
