Manchester United are close to signing goalkeeper Karl Darlow and midfielder Andrei Santos, with Ederson undergoing a medical ahead of a permanent move from Atalanta. Darlow left Leeds United when his contract expired last month and is expected to join on a free transfer. He will provide cover for Senne Lamence after three goalkeepers left Old Trafford this summer.
Darlow was offered a renewal at Elland Road after making 22 league appearances for the Yorkshire club last season. However, he is now expected to cross the Pennines to join the Red Devils instead. Andre Onana has already returned to Trabzonspor on loan, while Altay Bayndil is widely expected to make a permanent return to Turkey.
Radek Vitek is also set to leave in search of regular first-team football, with United potentially benefiting financially from the 22-year-old after an impressive loan spell at Bristol City.
The 22-year-old agreed a £50m deal with Chelsea earlier this week and Santos is currently undergoing a medical examination.
The Brazilian midfielder is set to complete his move to the club on a five-year contract in the coming days.
Darlow and Santos could finalize their move as early as Friday, but there is also news regarding Ederson, with United opting to carry out a more comprehensive medical assessment of the midfielder.
The first test took place during the World Cup, but following Brazil’s withdrawal from the tournament, the 27-year-old headed to Manchester to complete the transfer.
Despite hints that the deal could fall apart, the deal remains largely on track as he prepares to enter the final stages of his medical.
United have already agreed a £35m deal with Atalanta to bring Ederson to Old Trafford, with an additional £3.8m to come.
Personal terms have also been agreed to a four-year contract with an option for a one-year extension.
United’s squad returned to Carrington to begin pre-season training on Thursday.
The Red Devils will face Wrexham in their opening friendly on Saturday 18th July in Helsinki, Finland.
