Manchester United have agreed a £50m deal with Chelsea midfielder Andrej Santos, but the 22-year-old is currently due to undergo a medical.
Manchester United have agreed to sign Chelsea star Andrei Santos in a deal worth £50 million as manager Michael Carrick prepares to make his first permanent signing.
Mirror Football understands that Santos is ready to complete a permanent move to Old Trafford after negotiations between United and Chelsea have progressed over the past 48 hours. United have committed to paying an initial fee of £48m and £2m in additional fees.
Personal terms between United and the player have already been finalized. As part of the deal, a 10% sell-on clause is included in the contract, meaning Chelsea will receive a cut of any subsequent transfer fees.
However, Carrick appears intent on retaining the player to form an all-Brazilian team in midfield with Ederson, with the 26-year-old set to join from Atalanta after the World Cup.
It remains unclear whether his potential signing will end United’s rumored pursuit of Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchoameny.
Santos has been cleared to travel to Manchester for a medical and is now close to completing his move to Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old, who was Todd Boley’s first signing during his time at Stamford Bridge, is set to fill the void left by Casemiro when his contract expires on June 30.
The Brazilian midfielder made 42 appearances for Chelsea last season, being a rotation candidate for Enzo Maresca and Liam Rosenior.
This was his first full campaign in England, following unstable loan spells with Nottingham Forest and RC Strasbourg.

Santos was selected in coach Carlo Ancelotti’s 55-man World Cup reserve squad for Brazil in June. However, when Wesley was injured a few days before the tournament, Ederson was called up as an emergency replacement, but he was cut when the roster was reduced to 26 players.
He has been given a rest ahead of the start of pre-season, giving Carrick a lift to complete a new contract ahead of friendlies in Finland, Norway, Sweden and Ireland.
