England reach the World Cup quarter-finals after one of the most dramatic nights in history.
The Three Lions defeated Mexico 3-2 at the Aztec cauldron thanks to two goals from Jude Bellingham and a penalty from Harry Kane.
However, England were forced to play with 10 men for almost the entire second half as Jarrell Quansah went red with a horror tackle.
Bellingham’s two first-half goals gave England a 2-0 lead, and Julian Quinones pulled one back for Mexico. Kane scored the goal after receiving Quansah’s red card, regaining a two-goal lead.
Raul Jimenez then scored from 12 yards as England held on for more than 30 minutes to seal a place in the last eight against Norway.
Here are the players’ ratings in Mexico City…
jordan pickford 9
Raul Jimenez made some great saves in the first half, but could do nothing about the Mexican striker’s penalty.
Jarrell Quansah 5
Sent off after brutal challenge on Jesus Gallardo. I really enjoyed the game.
Ezri Konsa 7
Once again, the central defense was unstable, and after that, he was switched to right-back and solidified the defence.
Marc Gehi 8
He was very calm under pressure – and there was a hell of a lot of pressure.
Nico O’Reilly 7
He hit the post with a wonderful low shot. After a very complicated match, he left with an injury.
Declan Rice 8
I was booked 59 seconds later, obviously far from full fitness, but what a change. hero.
Elliot Anderson 8
He worked very hard and it was difficult to understand why he was substituted. It felt like the wrong choice.
Bukayozaka 7
After his assist in the first half, he became the sacrificial lamb after receiving a red card for Quansah.
jude bellingham 10
His two goals made him England’s best player again.
anthony gordon 9
By far the best performance of any England winger in all games.
harry kane 9
This time it’s England’s heroes and villains. He knocked in a penalty and had an assist, but conceded a clumsy penalty that sent Mexico back into the tournament.
