Real Madrid have released a statement regarding Enzo Fernandes after it was reported that the Spanish giants are in contract talks to sign the Chelsea midfielder this summer.
Real Madrid have confirmed that they have not held talks regarding the transfer of Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandes. Reports emerged earlier this week that Real were in talks with Fernandes’ camp over a blockbuster move for the 25-year-old Argentina international.
Fernandes’ agent Javier Pastore then added fuel to the rumors by revealing the player was considering options to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
“Today, the player is calmly thinking about the national team. He is playing in the World Cup and is very close to reaching the last 16,” Pastore told Marca. “He is thinking only about that and we are considering the possibility of leaving Chelsea, but no firm decision or confirmation has been made with any club.”

Fernandes is under contract at Chelsea until 2032, but was linked with a move to Real before joining the Blues in a £107m deal from Benfica in January 2023. Los Blancos are believed to have followed Fernandes’ development during his time in west London, but they have no interest in signing him this transfer window.
Confirming this, Real said in a statement on the club’s website: “In view of the reports and statements of recent days concerning the alleged interest of Enzo Fernandes by Real Madrid CF, the club would like to state that it has not made any efforts, directly or indirectly, to sign the aforementioned player, nor does it intend to carry out any such operation.”
“Real Madrid would like to pay its highest respect to Enzo Fernandes, a great footballer whose career and qualities are widely known, and to Chelsea FC, a club with which it maintains an excellent organizational relationship.
“Precisely because of the respect that an organization like Chelsea FC deserves and the principle of loyalty to the organization that has always governed Real Madrid’s actions, the club believes that it is necessary to categorically reject speculation that is unfounded and inconsistent with reality.
“Real Madrid regrets that, despite the facts being clear and no action being taken by the club, information inconsistent with reality continues to be spread, causing confusion among fans and causing unnecessary damage to the organizations and people involved.”
Despite talk about Fernandes’ future, Chelsea still expect him to take part in pre-season training as usual after the Argentina international’s break following his participation in the World Cup.
Argentina have advanced to the top of the competition and are set to face Cape Verde in Friday’s round of 32 draw. Lionel Scaloni’s team are bookmakers’ second favorite to win the World Cup after France.
