The match, which was due to be held at Mexico’s iconic Estadio Azteca, was originally scheduled to take place at 1am UK time.

However, according to the weather forecast for Mexico City, thunderstorms and heavy rain are possible at this time.

There were numerous reports on Friday night that kick-off time would be brought forward to 7pm UK time (noon local time).

However, local Mexican media reports later suggested that the kick-off time could be moved back to its original position after the Mexican Football Association expressed dissatisfaction with the change.

FIFA officials insisted to Sky Sports that despite the confusion, no decision had been taken to move the match.

FIFA is scheduled to meet with local organizers in Mexico City on Saturday to further discuss the potential disruption.

This means that England’s match will now be played at the original kick-off time of 1am (UK time).

FIFA’s weather forecast currently warns of a 90% risk of thunderstorms forming at Estadio Azteca on Monday.

It added that there was “lightning activity that may temporarily impact outdoor activities” and that match officials should “maintain readiness for lightning safety procedures.”

FIFA rules state that if lightning occurs within a six-mile radius of the stadium, the match will be immediately postponed.

England midfielder Morgan Rodgers said: “I’ll be ready no matter when…The sooner the better because I want to play.”
