Thierry Henry immediately apologized to Harry Kane just minutes after the England captain pulled the Three Lions from the brink of despair against the Democratic Republic of Congo. England led 1-0 heading into the final 15 minutes of the game in Atlanta, but an early goal after just seven minutes put them behind.

The hapless England team were in desperate need of inspiration and, as has been the case on so many occasions, it was their all-time top scorer who pulled them out of despair. He started with a header inside the penalty area and then the Bayern Munich man curled home from the edge of the box into the top corner to keep England’s World Cup dreams alive.

Reacting to the former Tottenham star’s performance on FOX Sports, Henry was adamant about Arsenal’s persuasion and praised the England marksman. “You know, I want to stay in my lane and respect your country’s rules. But from now on, I’ll call him Sir Harry Kane.”

“Because what he did today… you were looking for an answer and he himself was the answer. And I’m not just talking about the goal, because you know it’s going to go there. In the first half, Zlatan picked it up, ran back to the back four, stopped the counter to the other side, started the counter and almost finished.”

“I don’t even know what more to say about Harry Kane. And, you know, I can’t say too much about Tottenham with Arsenal…but from now on I’ll call him Sir Harry Kane. And please, I We know we don’t have that kind of power. Well done England, it’s always going to be difficult against the Democratic Republic of the Congo. But with Harry Kane, anything is possible. I’m sorry, Sir Harry.

Fellow former professional turned pundit Zlatan Ibrahimovic added: “Listen, this England, I just said: Harry Kane. He did three things, the two goals and the run that Thierry said says everything about how important he is to this team.”

“We talk about Messi, Argentina, France, Mbappé, they had superstars. We talk about Haaland from Norway. But when it comes to England, we talk about Harry Kane.

“And Thierry, you don’t have the right to call him Sir Harry Kane, but I do. Sir Harry Kane is England and his performance today, he needs to continue that form if this England side is to have any chance.”

Kane and England’s next assignment will be against co-hosts Mexico in the Round of 16 at the Azteca Stadium. It is expected to be the toughest test of Thomas Tuchel’s time as manager to date.
