Liverpool are chasing Yann Diomande this summer, but RB Leipzig have a number of suitors from among Europe’s elite, including newly-minted European champions PSG.
Yann Diomande wants to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer if he leaves RB Leipzig, which would be a huge blow to Liverpool in their search for Mohamed Salah’s successor.
The Ivorian star has become one of Europe’s hottest attackers after an impressive season with Leipzig, who signed the 19-year-old from Leganes last summer. However, Diomande’s suitors are aware that luring him away from Germany will require significant amounts of money, with Leipzig determined not to sell their prized asset for less than 130 million euros (about £112.1 million).
Diomande has been heavily linked with Liverpool as they prepare to revamp their attacking line-up following the iconic departure of Salah.
However, according to The Athletic, PSG would be Diomande’s preferred destination if he were to move from Leipzig this summer.
The talented teenager is understood to believe that his project in Paris gives him the best opportunity to compete not only for a major trophy, but also for a possible future Ballon d’Or win.
Negotiations are accelerating after it was revealed that the player had reached a verbal agreement with the French club.
Diomande’s preference is likely to cause disappointment at Anfield, given Anfield’s admiration for the player who scored 12 goals and provided a further nine assists in 33 Bundesliga games last season.
It emerged earlier this month that Liverpool had reportedly been prepared to offer a package worth 100 million euros (about 8.6 billion yen) for Diomande’s services, but they have been informed that the figure falls well short of Leipzig’s demands.
The Reds are entering a new era under Andoni Iraola, who was appointed as the club’s head coach shortly after Arne Slott was sacked last month.
Liverpool are rumored to have signed a number of attackers this summer, including Bradley Barcola, and Diomande’s arrival could well impact his future position at PSG.
