Nottingham Forest are reportedly on the brink of sacking Vitor Pereira as manager, just months after the Portuguese saved the team from relegation, and his replacement has already been named. He becomes the latest manager to come and go at the City Ground as Forest look for yet another new manager.
The 57-year-old had one year left on his current deal, having signed an 18-month deal when he first took over in February. Pereira’s only job in the Premier League also lasted less than a year, being sacked by Wolves after nine months in charge.
This comes from Fabrizio Romano, who claims that rifts have begun to develop between Pereira and the former Wolves manager, which could lead to Pereira being let go before the season starts. Forest are said to be making moves behind the scenes and could once again be looking for a new manager.
The Telegraph reports that Oliver Glasner has been approached as Pereira’s replacement, with the Austrian leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the season. He won the conference league with the Eagles, but announced his departure early in the season.
If true, it would be Forest’s fifth manager in the last 12 months, with Nuno Espirito Santo having been in charge of Tricky Trees since the 2025/26 season. There was speculation that his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis had broken down, and by the time the September international break began, Nuno was gone.
He was replaced by Ange Postecoglou, but the Australian took charge after just 39 days. For Marinakis and his friends, Forrest went from one extreme to another. They called on the mighty Sean Dyche to help them get out of this situation.
Diche stayed with the club a little longer than his predecessor, but was sacked after just 114 days, and Pereira took over as manager for the remainder of the season. Pereira not only saved Forest from relegation but also guided the East Midlands side to the Europa League semi-finals.
It has already been a turbulent season for Forest, who appear to have lost star player Elliott Anderson as part of a British record move to Manchester City. Ahead of the summer transfer window, Forest KC chairman Nicholas Randall said: “As we head into the 2026/27 season, our message is clear: we are stronger together.”
“Our intention is to maintain the core of this talented team while strengthening key areas in the summer transfer window. We remain committed to bringing real quality players to Nottingham Forest, but equally important are individual qualities and character that reflect the values and culture of our football club.”
Forest will return to pre-season ahead of the new season later this month, with their first game of the season scheduled for Saturday, August 22nd. They welcome Leeds United to the City Ground and begin the season with games against Liverpool, Tottenham and Aston Villa.
