With the group stage decided, England will face the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Wednesday in the first knock-out match of a possible run to the World Cup final on July 19.
There will no doubt be more shocks and twists before then, but if England defeat the Democratic Republic of the Congo, their likely opponents in the final will be Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Spain.
Opta says the route will be the most difficult since record-keeping began.
