Virgin Media has relaunched its popular TV giveaway, offering free smart TVs perfect for watching FIFA World Cup. The tournament is in its final stages and football lovers looking to enhance their viewing experience of the biggest matches at home can secure a free £250 LG Smart TV.
New customers can apply for a contract by signing up to one of four Virgin TV and broadband packages. Each package offers hundreds of TV channels, a selection of Sky Sports and Sky Cinema, and fiber broadband with speeds of up to 1,130Mbps. After signing up, customers can choose to receive a 43-inch LG Ultra HD Smart TV worth £249.99 or a £125 bill credit.
However, time is running out to claim your free LG TV before the deal ends on Wednesday (July 1) at 11:59pm. Available when you sign up to one of Virgin’s Cinema, Sport, Sport + Cinema, and Max Volt bundles.
These each include over 200 TV channels and a free subscription to ad-supported Netflix Standard, while the £47.99 Cinema bundle also comes with a Sky Cinema channel add-on and 362Mbps broadband. Soccer fans may prefer the £57.99 Sport bundle, which offers complete coverage of Sky Sports and Premier League, EFL, F1 and more, instead of Sky Cinema.
Customers can combine both of these packages into one with the £67.99 Sports + Cinema bundle, which also increases broadband speeds to 516Mbps. Virgin’s most premium option is the £79.99 Max Volt bundle, which includes all the benefits listed above, plus superfast 1,130Mbps broadband and an unlimited O2 SIM card.
However, it’s worth noting that Virgin plans to increase prices every year. Most packages will increase in price by £4 from April 2027, while the Max Bolt bundle will increase in price by £6.50. Users with Virgin Media’s free TV deal can now make the switch easily thanks to the new One Touch Switch scheme, allowing them to sign up without contacting their old provider.
Sky is also giving away freebies, as Ultimate TV and 300Mbps full-fibre broadband come with free subscriptions to Netflix, HBO Max, Disney+ and Hayu. It also includes 135 channels, including Sky Atlantic, for just £41 a month, and Sky Sports for an extra £20.
Elsewhere, Amazon has launched a dedicated World Cup store, allowing shoppers to buy a range of smart TVs at deep discounts. These include the 55-inch Hisense 55-inch 4K Ultra HD Smart TV AI TV priced at £279 (previously £359). When it comes to Virgin Media, thousands of satisfied customers have rated the brand on Trustpilot, with many praising its “excellent service.”
“Virgin is great. I work from home and struggled with poor broadband at first. I moved to Virgin and have had no problems at all. The other half of me is very happy, because I can watch football without annoying buffering.”
Another said: “We’ve been working with Virgin Media for a year now and we’re really happy with the service. I love football so it’s great to have access to all the sports channels. Great deal, 10 out of 10.”
This Virgin Media reviewer deducted one star for installation time, saying, “Only one star because of the length of time it took to sign up and install.”
The customer, on the other hand, reported a quick and smooth installation, saying, “The installation was great, with minimal disruption, and the engineers were all friendly and quick.”
