Laura Woods teamed up with Luke Littler to play darts at ITV Studios and the result was Treble 20, clinching victory over Luke Humphries and Duncan Ferguson.
Laura Woods was in disbelief when she hit a treble 20 to win a game of darts against Luke Humphries.
The ITV anchor threw a game of darts after Humphries and Luke Littler came in for a chat as part of the build-up to Wednesday night’s World Cup match. Woods and Littler paired up to chase Humphries and pundit Duncan Ferguson.
The latter duo targeted first, followed by Woods and Littler. After an underwhelming first three darts, Woods felt as if he had let his team down and was told he needed 42 darts to win the match.
Woods hit a 20-turn high with just one dart, leaving both stunned and cheering at having accomplished such a feat.
Littler and Humphries are in New York to participate in the US Darts Masters. They are two of the main players in the PDC, with Jan van Veen, Gerwyn Price, Johnny Clayton, Stephen Bunting and Josh Lock also in action.
The reigning world champions were asked if they had been watching the World Cup and admitted they were caught up in England’s goalless draw with Ghana due to travel arrangements. “I didn’t make too many mistakes,” Woods joked after the Three Lions struggled against their African opponents.
Littler and Humphries recently teamed up to produce a masterclass, clinching England’s sixth BetVictor World Cup of Darts with an emphatic 10-5 victory over the Netherlands.
Littler and Humphries suffered a shocking second-round loss to host Germany last year, raising questions about their partnership, but they dominated the Netherlands, averaging more than 104 points.
“I’m really happy, it was my best play of the tournament so far,” Littler told Sky Sports. “That’s what we had to do. You can’t do that every game and it’s difficult. There were challenges, but we got the job done.
“Last year, we didn’t do anything wrong. We just played a better team. This year, we all had to win, not just ourselves. I’m proud of us. We all won.”
“Michael (van Gerwen) was unbelievable tonight. He came back and played some unbelievable darts,” Humphries said after the win. “We knew we had to take advantage of our chances. If we gave Holland hope, they would take it away. We were a little behind against Wales, but we took advantage of the good fortune we had in that game and ran with it.”
