The former striker told Betfair: “If I were Thomas Tuchel, I wouldn’t change much for the Ghana game. There were more positives than negatives on Wednesday. The negative was that we looked nervous and nervous in the first half. We have some players in their first tournament, so that’s understandable to a certain extent. We looked shaky defensively.”
“There were more positives though. Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane and Elliott Anderson were outstanding. Nico O’Reilly was also great. Tuchel’s substitutes worked really, really well.”
“It was a really tenacious second half when Croatia were just starting to get back into the game and he brought on Rashford, Rodgers and the substitutions were perfect. Jed Spence could have scored with his first touch.”
“Everything bodes well so I won’t change it too much and I don’t think Tuchel will either. I wouldn’t be surprised if England vs Ghana doesn’t get changed.”
“If Declan Rice were to get injured, it would be a huge blow because of his character, his height, his season and what he means for England. Rice is very talented and brings great energy. He’s a great talent and he brings great energy. He’s a very good player.”
“If Tuchel is going to make it, the only change I would consider would be to bring in Marc Guech, or Rashford for Gordon, because I think Tuchel will switch them from one game to another. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rashford and Guech come in against Ghana.”
“I think England will win 3-1. Harry Kane will come out again and score a few goals, and Elliott Anderson might pop up too.”
