Tottenham are embarking on an ambitious and expensive overhaul of their squad after narrowly avoiding relegation from the Premier League and are hoping to sign Marcus Rashford
Tottenham are eyeing Marcus Rashford as the next step in their ambitious revival.
Spurs are desperate to avoid a repeat of their dismal performance in the Premier League over the past two seasons and are ready to spend big in the summer transfer window.
Spurs’ hierarchy has hit the reset button under pressure after manager Roberto de Zerbi avoided relegation to the Championship after a 17th-place finish. Jan Paul van Hecke has already been signed for £52m from Brighton, but Spurs won’t stop there.
They have seen Newcastle reject an £80m offer for midfielder Sandro Tonali, but are already considering options to strengthen their underachieving attack. Rashford may be forced to consider alternatives after the club’s decision to spend £69million on England team-mate Anthony Gordon has had his Barcelona dreams seriously undermined.
After a successful loan spell at Barça, it seems highly unlikely that Rashford will continue his career at Manchester United. And Spurs are ready to try their luck at signing the England star.

The i report that the north London side are ready to test United’s resolve with an offer for Rashford. United set their offer for the 28-year-old forward at £40m after Barca refused to trigger a £26m clause in his loan deal.
There are two obvious obstacles to Rashford joining Spurs. Firstly, they are not willing to pay £40m and will try a lower offer from the start. Secondly, Rashford still has his heart set on Barcelona and has no desire to return to the Premier League.
De Zerbi is reportedly keen on signing Rashford, who made 49 appearances for Barça last season, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists. United want Rashford’s future to be resolved as soon as possible as they want to take his hefty salary off the books to strengthen their squad.
Rashford is aware that he would be forced to take a significant pay cut from his £315,000-a-week wage at United, but there are still a number of factors standing in the way of a deal. Negotiations are likely to slow down as Rashford is currently focused on England’s World Cup activities, which they won 4-2 against Croatia.
Bayern Munich has been floated as an option, but the German giants are currently being monitored. Bayern are aiming to sign a left-sided attacker after losing out to Barcelona for Gordon, but it is reported that they are prioritizing the signing of PSV’s Ismael Saibari.
Rashford was in the World Cup window and is pushing Gordon to be in England’s starting XI against Ghana in Boston on Tuesday night. United will be hoping to add to his tally against Croatia to further drum up transfer interest.
Spurs already have centre-back Van Hekke on board, but signing Tonali will be even more difficult. Newcastle are reportedly worth £100m for the Italian midfielder, with Arsenal and Manchester United also said to be interested in signing him.
