Arsenal will enter the 2026-27 Premier League season as defending champions as Mikel Arteta and his players finally end their 22-year wait for a trophy.
Arsenal begin their Premier League title defense against newly promoted Coventry City at the Emirates on Friday 21st August.
Mikel Arteta’s side welcome Frank Lampard’s Sky Blues to north London for their lone season opener, before the remaining games of the first weekend are played on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
The Gunners then travel to Aston Villa before the London derby against Chelsea at the Emirates.
Arsenal travel to Anfield on October 31st and are scheduled to play last season’s top challengers Manchester City at home on November 28th.
The first North London derby of the season will be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 5, before a festive affair against Manchester United six days before Christmas.
Tottenham will travel to the Emirates for their return match on May 1st. Dates after season opener are subject to change based on television selection.
The Gunners will lift the trophy in May to end a run of three consecutive second-place finishes and start the 2026-27 season as defending champions. Arteta’s side achieved the best result in the division in the 2025-26 season thanks to their solid defence, finishing top of the table with a seven-point difference.
Last summer’s signings of Victor Gokeres, Martin Zvimendi, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke, Cristian Mosquera and Piero Hincapi made a difference and Arsenal will be busy again this summer. Arteta wants to sign a new left-winger as a priority and sporting director Andrea Berta is working hard to strengthen the squad once again.
Gökeres, who joined from Sporting Lisbon, scored 14 league goals in his debut season, double the seven each of the next best players, Eze and Bukayo Saka. Goals and assists came from further up the pitch, with set-pieces a particularly fruitful route, accounting for 25 of his 71 shots.
The Gunners will be looking to defend their Premier League title against the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United, while they will be hoping for another good run in the Champions League. Arteta’s side drew 1-1 with Paris Saint-Germain in the final on May 30th, before losing on penalties.
