Manchester United are reportedly prepared to reject Barcelona’s loan offer for Marcus Rashford this summer.
Manchester United are said to be prepared to reject a loan move for Marcus Rashford from Barcelona this summer. United have made their position clear on the England international’s future as the summer transfer window continues.
Rashford spent last season on loan at Barcelona, making 49 appearances in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists.
The 28-year-old made it clear last season that he wanted to join Barcelona permanently, but the Spanish club chose not to trigger the £26m buy-out option in his original loan deal, which expired earlier this week.
Rashford is currently in England’s squad for this summer’s North American World Cup, and there are regular developments in the forward’s situation.
According to a report by ESPN, United have no intention of sanctioning Rashford’s further loan move to Barcelona, but are instead focused on securing a permanent move this summer.
The report goes on to suggest that United have “invited” Rashford’s agent to contact the club with a realistic possibility of him joining on a permanent deal this summer.
United would have been thrilled to witness Rashford shine for England in their 4-2 World Cup win over Croatia on Wednesday night. Rashford was left out of the starting XI by Three Lions manager Thomas Tuchel, but he emerged from the bench to score England’s winning goal in Dallas.
Tuchel praised Rashford’s performance against Croatia and shed light on why United’s star player is in the spotlight in training before and during the World Cup.

“He (Rashford) struggled to be decisive when he first started, but he’s always been trying and he’s had a little bit of bad luck for a long time,” Tuchel told reporters after England’s win over Croatia.
“We just talked (Tuesday) and I told him I’ve been very impressed with his past 16 days, how he’s been in camp and how he’s struggled on the field.
“He gives his all in every meeting. He is very quick to get the meetings on the pitch that we want tactically.
“He’s pushing at a very respectable level with Anthony Gordon in that position, so he’s in a very good position at the moment.
“I’m very happy that he has broken this long spell. He wasn’t decisive for us in the game, so hopefully he can keep this going.”
