Jurgen Klopp is a prominent World Cup pundit and his comments about Germany have already appeared to anger national team manager Julian Nagelsmann.
Manager Jurgen Klopp may not need to listen to German manager Julian Nagelsmann. Because even if the World Cup doesn’t go well for Nagelsmann in North America, Klopp and his opinion will matter little to him.
However, on the other hand, former Liverpool manager Klopp is not giving him any chances. He is paid handsomely as Magenta TV’s chief pundit alongside Thomas Muller during the tournament. Therefore, he is obliged to speak his mind.
And if what he says happens to undermine Nagelsmann, so be it. He was certainly right when he told him to leave Jamal Musiala out of the season opener.
Klopp is not a ceremonial man. Klopp may have won the hearts, minds and adoration of Liverpool supporters throughout his career in English football. A combination of testosterone, teeth and trophies ensured this.

However, behind that beaming smile is a ruthless and very intimidating man. A person who will stop at nothing to get what they want. Whether this includes him as Nagelsmann’s replacement remains to be seen.
Klopp is unlikely to approve of this as the Germans prepare to embark on a massive World Cup campaign. But there is no getting away from the fact that the nudging and winking between him and Mueller on national television leaves no one in any doubt about what will happen in the near future.
And Nagelsmann knows it.
He quietly attended the opening press conference looking relaxed and tanned. He spoke with confidence and confidence, but let his guard down when asked whether Klopp’s comments about team selection had been disrespectful.
“We have a lot of cool experts who have had a lot of success in football. They can talk about what they want to talk about. I’ll focus on the game.”
For Nagelsmann, Klopp will start to look like the grim reaper. A dark shadow hovers above or behind him. Although Klopp is popular, opinions on Nagelsmann remain divided. Klopp is the man that German supporters most want to be their national team manager.
Nagelsmann is a man who is waiting for his fellow supporters to fail. Nagelsmann can change the narrative with engineering success in North America. That would be the perfect way to silence the noise coming towards him from the house.
But if he doesn’t win games in the coming weeks, the most deafening noise will be cries for him to leave – and Klopp won’t even have to say anything.
