Manchester United have announced that Jadon Sancho and five other players will leave the club this month.

Sancho, 26, joined United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for £73m and ended up making 83 appearances during his time at Old Trafford, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists. His last game for the Reds was in the 2024 Community Shield against Manchester City, coming on midway through the second half.

The England international, who made 23 appearances, spent the second half of the 2023/24 season back at Dortmund, before being loaned back to Chelsea in 2024/25 and Aston Villa in 2025/26.

Despite trying to sell Sancho for a fee in each of the past two summer transfer windows, United were unable to sell him and had to settle for losing him for free when his contract expires at the end of June.

Sancho will be joined by Casemiro, Tyrell Malasia, Sonny Algeoffrey, James Bailey and Malachi Sharpe after the Reds announced their full retention list on Wednesday morning.

Casemiro confirmed his departure from United in January and ended the season on a high note for Michael Carrick’s side, helping them return to the Champions League. The Brazilian signed for the Reds from Real Madrid in 2022 and became a cult hero in the M16s, making over 150 appearances and helping them win the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

Some United supporters had hoped the club would persuade the 34-year-old to make a U-turn and remain with the Reds for at least another season. However, Casemiro and the club’s stance remains unchanged, with his last appearance for United coming in the 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest last month.

After his final match for United, Casemiro shared an emotional message on social media, saying: “In life there are places we pass through… and there are places that become part of us. Manchester will forever be my home.”

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the city, the club and our supporters. The last four years have been unforgettable and filled with moments that my family and I will cherish for the rest of our lives.”

“There are not enough words to describe the happiness and warmth we felt here. Thank you for all the cheers, all the memories and for making us feel at home from day one. Forever the Red Devils.”

Malasia, meanwhile, endured a difficult four years at United after joining from Feyenoord in 2022 for £13m. He had a promising first season with the Reds, making 39 appearances in all competitions. However, it all went downhill from there as he suffered a serious knee injury that sidelined him for 18 months.

The Dutchman made just 12 appearances for United after returning to fitness in November 2024, and will end his time with the Reds this summer when his contract expires.

Al Joffrey, Bailey and Sharpe will leave United’s academy and the club will support them in their search for a new club, provide them with a bespoke aftercare programme, and ensure they always have a lifelong commitment to the club.
