England manager Thomas Tuchel has described the only goal he felt was important in his first meeting with the Three Lions stars after being appointed as Gareth Southgate’s successor.
Thomas Tuchel made plans to win the World Cup more than a year ago and expects it will be like conquering Mount Everest.
Football association leaders have released footage of Tuchel’s first inciting mob speech to England players from March 2025. Tuchel insisted that winning the World Cup would require a “brotherhood” and a series of “base camps” should be set up at the base of the mountain leading to the summit of Everest this summer.
England manager Tuchel told his players: “The mission of why we are here is very clear. We want to be world champions. We want to have a second star on our shirts. It is very important that we talk about that soon. The goal of this mission is clear: We want to have a second star on our shirts.”

Coach Tuchel, with his assistant Anthony Barry by his side, prepared for the pre-World Cup social gathering and said it was all about the players and the sense of unity.
“Ladies and gentlemen, today, on the first day of my first camp, I had an immediate impact and immediately remembered why I wanted this job in the first place,” Tuchel said. “You’re the reason why I wanted to have it so badly and why I was so excited about it.”
Tuchel also spoke of the need for unity and “brotherhood” within the group as they will be playing together for a long time at the World Cup.
England manager Tuchel insisted it was not always about picking the best players, but about cohesion. Underscoring his ruthless nature, Tuchel sacked the likes of Phil Foden, Cole Palmer and Trent Alexander-Arnold. The former Chelsea manager then outlined a conversation he had with an unknown World Cup winner who had played in various tournaments, detailing why they won compared to their previous defeats.
Tuchel added: “Of course it’s bad news, right? As you know, this is bad news. It’s not enough. Because this is not just about football.”
“I spoke to a World Cup winner who had played in two World Cups and he said the difference between the quarter-finals and the win was the same level of players, the same quality of players.
“But once we bonded as brothers, we were ready to die for each other. It didn’t matter that the camp was two months because we love each other.”
“Let’s build guys. Let’s build something special until we get to the United States. The important thing is, guys, I want to get here,” he said, pointing to the top of the Everest chart.
“I’m not even talking about winning. I want to arrive here on top when the going gets really tough in the toughest group in the world.
“When you sit on the plane and you land, you know this is going to be a great camp and this is going to be a team that no one wants to play against. And they’re going to feel it. They’re going to feel it in the mixed zone. They’re going to feel it in the tunnel. They’re going to smell it.”
