Alex Scott believes the former Bournemouth manager, who heads to Anfield to replace Arne Slott, is the best person to carry on Jurgen Klopp’s legacy
Andoni Iraola will bring Jurgen Klopp’s heavy metal football back to Anfield.
That’s the prediction of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, who claims Iraola’s exciting brand of football is reminiscent of Klopp’s style. Former Bournemouth manager Iraola has taken charge of Liverpool, telling them to bring back exciting, attacking football to win back fans.
Former Liverpool manager Klopp described his game as “heavy metal football”, but Iraola won a reputation at Bournemouth for delivering stylish teams, with exciting football delivering trophies.
Scott has no doubts that Iraola will be a huge success for Liverpool. Especially since the fans wanted stylish football, which was their biggest complaint against former manager Arne Slott.
Scott said: “What can Liverpool expect from Iraola? He’s obviously a great manager. You can see what we’ve done as a Bournemouth club and how we’ve progressed in the three seasons he’s been there.”
“The way we press out of possession is very aggressive and I think it’s probably similar to the early Klopp teams at Liverpool, with their ferocious aggression and pressing by their wingers.
“I think he’s similar to that. Liverpool fans should definitely be very excited. He’s done a lot for me personally.”
Scott also said Iraola would contribute to the development of other players, just as he had contributed to his own game at Bournemouth.
He added: “This season, my workload has improved both in possession and in possession. I feel like I’ve earned his trust. Defensively, maybe the first two seasons I wasn’t at the level to play in the Premier League. That’s something I had to learn and I had to learn from the players who were ahead of me in the team.”
“But he believed in me from the first game of the season, and I started this year and played all 34 games, which I’m really proud of. I didn’t have any injuries, so I was happy with that.”
“The coach has been great for me and helped me forward, defensively and more offensively, which is why I played most of the games this season.”
