Manchester United are set to sign a left-winger this summer to strengthen their attacking options ahead of their return to the Champions League.
Manchester United are considering options for a left-winger in the summer transfer window, with Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye shortlisted. United are yet to make a formal approach for the 26-year-old Senegalese international but are tracking his whereabouts at Old Trafford in what is expected to be a busy few months.
While the urgency to sign a left winger is not as strong as it was six months ago, with Patrick Dorg developing in the role and Matheus Cunha flourishing there, giving Michael Carrick an alternative, it is still an area under consideration during the period.
United showed some interest in RB Leipzig’s 19-year-old Yann Diomande earlier this year, but Liverpool are now the frontrunners to sign the Ivory Coast international, with the Bundesliga side putting an £86m price tag on him.
Morgan Rodgers is another player who is attracting attention at Old Trafford. The 23-year-old can also play on the left wing and could be seen as a long-term successor to Bruno Fernandes in the number 10 position.
Aston Villa may pursue a move for Rodgers this summer as they look to fund a restructure, but United will face stiff competition for the England international, with most of the Premier League’s leading players monitoring his situation alongside European giants.

Ndiaye could be the more affordable option of the two, and United would need to make ends meet if they were to sign a winger. He played on both flanks for the Toffees last season, but can also play as a number 10, adding to the attacking versatility United already have under Carrick.
Everton insist they are in no position to sell, and N’Diai still has three years left on his contract at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, having signed a five-year deal when he joined the club two years ago.
However, with claims the fan favorite has rejected offers of a new contract, this summer could be the ideal opportunity for Everton to secure a significant return on the £15m they paid Marseille for N’Diai two years ago. He made 71 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals and providing 3 assists.
United have other pressing matters in the transfer window, with at least one midfielder and potentially two more available to follow Ederson, who has agreed terms to join from Atalanta in a deal worth up to £38.3 million.
Sky Sports, HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+ and Ultimate TV packages

Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundles to include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, plus 135 channels and complete coverage of the Premier League and EFL from Sky.
Sky has over 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more, with at least 215 of them live from the top flight, along with F1, darts and golf.
A left-back is also needed as Tyrell Malasia leaves the club on a free transfer. Luke Shaw played every Premier League game last season but will face a tougher challenge as next season’s fixture list strengthens.
United have recently had a number of left wingers heading towards the exit door, with Anthony leaving in 2025 and Jadon Sancho joining this summer, while the club are also keen to transfer Marcus Rashford’s £325,000-a-week wage bill. There is virtually no chance the 28-year-old will return to the team under Carrick.
The possibility of a third midfielder arriving depends on the availability of Manuel Ugarte, with Joshua Zirkzee potentially also on the move. United are considering their attacking options and one option is to bring in a more experienced striker to back up Benjamin Sesco.
Bringing in another versatile forward like Ndiaye could be considered as well, while Cunha and Brian Mbeumo can both play in the centre.
