Arsenal’s first summer transfer may have just been confirmed in massive hint | Soccer | Sports

Piero Hincapie has shared a heartfelt message amid speculation he could leave Arsenal this summer. The defender posted on social media after the club’s defeat in the Champions League final. Arsenal faced PSG in Budapest on Saturday night, the match ending 1-1 after extra time and losing on penalties.

Hincapie played the entirety of his career for Arsenal at the Puskas Arena, helping the Gunners reach the final in Hungary and playing a key role in winning the Premier League title. Arsenal brought him to the Emirates Stadium from Bayer Leverkusen on a loan deal last summer, which included an option to make him a permanent transfer for £45m.

There has been much debate as to whether Hincapie will become a permanent Arsenal player, with the Ecuadorian international now releasing a message strongly suggesting he will remain at the club.

“I feel lucky to be a part of this group of dreamers,” Hincapie wrote on Instagram to her 1.9 million followers.

“Of course it hurts, but I’m sure I’ll turn this pain into a lesson for the future. I’ll definitely be back.”

Hincapie’s parent club Leverkusen responded to the post with a comment using a heart-hand emoji.

A number of reports have claimed that Hincapie is widely expected to complete a permanent move to Arsenal this summer, but new speculation has emerged that he could be linked with a move away.

The Daily Mail recently reported that Arsenal could consider selling Hincapie as soon as his contract is completed if a suitable lucrative offer materializes.

Barcelona have been linked with a move for Hincapie this summer, but the defender’s comments suggest he intends to remain part of Arsenal’s squad next season.

Mikel Arteta was recently asked if Arsenal intended to sign Hincapie on a permanent basis, and he answered candidly.

“I think so too,” Arteta said. “Let’s do the season. We have already talked about the possible outcome after that period. But so far we are very happy with him.”

Arsenal are expected to confirm Hincapie’s departure soon, with the defender set to be selected for Ecuador’s squad for this summer’s World Cup in North America.
